The WiiU has just been released, and consumers can’t get enough of it. Despite my apathy towards it, the market as spoken, and it’s release signals the new console generation.
Like with any release, there are a few flaws and glitches, even a report of someone accidentally hacking into the console and having the ability to see how many users are in each of the WiiU’s features and being able to delete their passwords, like some sort of Mii-God.
Eventually, I know I’m going to crack and get one.
Nice comic, I can’t wait to get this thing.
Selling well? I doubt it. Considering I found them in 3 stores the day after launch….and people just walked by them without even glancing at them. And the local Gamestop last night flat out said that it failed to even get close to their expectations (they sold 9 Wii U’s so far). Most people don’t even know what the Wii U is (outside of gamers), and the people who do don’t see why they should get one when they already have a Wii.
It might do moderately well for a year, but the thing will be utterly useless and unable to compete (outside of the Nintendo demographic) next year when the 720 and PS4 hit shelves. The Wii U’s graphics are ALREADY outdated. There are already developers saying they’re NOT porting their games to the Wii U because they’d have to downgrade the game to get it to play on the Wii U.

I haven’t seen any sales figures outside predictions, but the WiiU seems to be doing well in my neck of the woods.
And I hear your argument, but it’s the same song that was sing about the Wii, which ended up outselling both PS3 and 360 for a large time, and is undisputed “winner” in console sales this generation, all despite having no real AAA developers and staying in the archaic standard definition. So time will tell if lightening will strike twice.
The Wii sold more because it was cheaper. Has it sold more games?
